Bust of Theodore Roosevelt and head of horse cast from same mold as TR statue.

TR, as the "Rough Rider", will be welcoming one and all to his beloved Oyster Bay in the form of a 12-foot-tall statue cast from an original mold created in 1921 by renowned sculptor Alexander Phimister Proctor. The statue will be mounted at the entranceAlexander Phimister Proctor's Rough Rider statue of Theodore Roosevelt to Oyster Bay Hamlet.

Rotary Centennial Project.  This year, Rotary International is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of its founding. In celebration of this milestone, the Rotary Club of Oyster Bay has selected as its centennial project the placing of the Alexander Phimister Proctor statue of Theodore Roosevelt at the entrance to the community.

Commemorative Journal.  In support of these efforts, the Oyster Bay Historical Society is preparing a journal in celebration of the statue's placement. You are invited to become a part of this historic project by participating in the commemorative journal. In addition to the advertisements, it will contain approximately twenty pages of original stories and rarely-seen photographs of TR. Copies of this keepsake will be placed throughout the community, and will become treasured mementos of the occasion.

How to Participate.  Please print and complete the TR Statue Commemoration AD Form, and send it to us by August 15, 2005 to tell us your level of participation. All proceeds from this historic journal will benefit the Oyster Bay Historical Society Building Fund and the TR Statue Maintenance Fund, both of which are 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations.

P.S. TR's statue is now in place, as Dagmar Fors Karppi tells us in 'It's a Bully Day in Oyster Bay' in the November 04, 2005 edition of the Oyster Bay Enterprise-Pilot. But contributions to the Oyster Bay Historical Society Building Fund and the TR Statue Maintenance Fund are still welcome!
