Plein air painting is the culmination of knowledge in a spontaneous manner of expression - saying a lot in a relatively short amount of time.
-- Susie Peelle

Susie PeelleSusie Gách Peelle is a multi-media artist born in Budapest, Hungary, granddaughter of eminent memorial sculptor Stephen Gách and daughter of international sculptor/painter George Gách. Residing in the U.S.A. since 1952 following a five-year sojourn in Beirut, Lebanon, Peelle is an impressionistic-realistic artist working in oil, lead, pastel, conte, ink, gouache, graphics, mosaic and on silk. Susie and husband Robert live in Locust Valley and are the parents of four sons.

She holds an MFA from the Instituto Allende, U. of Guanajuato, Mexico; a BA from C.W. Post, and has studied at the Kokoschka School, Salzburg, Austria, the National Academy of Design and the Art Students' League, New York City.

Sea and landscapes, figuratives and portraits (over 2000!), and still lives are all fodder for her talented brush. Inspiration for her art comes from everything from objects to the environment, parallel with different media. According to Peelle, "Plein air painting is the culmination of knowledge in a spontaneous manner of expression - saying a lot in a relatively short amount of time."

She has held solo exhibitions at Ariel Fine Art, Locust Valley; the Bryant Library, Roslyn; Hofstra University, Garden City; Locust Valley Library; Mallette Gallery, Garden City; Pacific Far East Line Cruises; and Saks Fifth Avenue, Garden City. Ms. Peelle is a member of the Allied Artists of America, the American Artists Professional League, the Art League of Nassau County, Audubon Artists, and the Suburban Art League.

Organizations who have commissioned her work include the Bronx Zoo Society, Homes & Estates Magazine, Kinekat Press, Nassau Library Systems, New Woman Magazine, Princeton University, WABC-TV, and UNICEF.

Peelle has taught at the Art League of Long Island, Chelsea Center, Dowling College, Hutton House Lectures at C.W. Post, the Junior League, and the Instituto Allende, Mexico, as well as privately.
